[Music]. sorry I'm sorry okay so. um you've been here for five years yeah. what do you do for a living I'm a. YouTuber and I also teach kindergarten. do you still teach in kindergarten for. yeah last few months and then uh I'll do. YouTube full-time. nice Jesus you guys are good really I. might have to go back to teaching. depending on how this goes I'm not. fingers crossed so what brought you here.
well it's gonna sound a bit of a weird. story one day I woke up I had my dad. mowing the lawn outside and for some. reason the sound of that made me think. let's move in Taiwan so I went. downstairs oh Dad I'm gonna live in. Taiwan he's like yeah right did you just. make that up no it's why how did you. even know Taiwan it's a lot like. geography and history so what do you do. for a living here I'm a history and. social studies teacher. from which school uh Washington. bilingual Elementary oh okay that makes. sense Department shout out I was from.
wager uh studied there yeah. oh if you say so I've never been please.
I'm from Alabama in the United States. what brought you here well I studied. here during University oh at poorly. sorry no no because in Taiwan goalie is.
more of top universities right so people. would usually want to mention that to. let people know it's probably not silly. well I'm one of those smart kids who go. to public school it's it's the opposite. in America it's the opposite of many. different countries I came here for that. it was just like a one month like summer. program so you didn't actually get a. degree here no it was they had a. partnership with my University and they. were like hey if you get your own ticket. then the tuition is free I don't even.
know where Taiwan is but I'll do it what. brought you here again when I graduated. in America I really wanted to come back. to Taiwan but now I'm just doing English. teaching and I don't think I'm gonna be. leaving anytime soon I'm from England. but my mom is half Singaporean so I grew. up with an Asian background dude I grew. up around like Asian food with my mom. did a lot of home cooking I loved eating. the local Cuisine what do you do for a. living here I'm a teacher my. girlfriend's sister has lived here for. six years and we came for a wedding four. years ago. no we went for a wedding and then during.
the pandemic I lost my job it wasn't a. great time to get another job so we. decided to come to Taiwan. you're gonna think it's crazy but yeah. I love you. it smells bad but it tastes really good. I literally just ate it last night he. couldn't stand for it every time I. ordered it he was like oh God stinky. tofu again. um.
[Music]. [Music].
it's understandable at least but I like. spicy food so I I do too that's rare not. a lot of foreigners like spicy food oh. love it Curry is my favorite food but. the Spicer the better right with Curry's. not Tony's probably gambian.
that's the best one yeah. okay I've never tried gum yum really. actually yeah. you always have both here there that's. what it's known for zombies are really. good but the noodles last sleeper hits.
power. well I mentioned Curry I do like Curry. but as far as actual that's not. Taiwanese right I mean as unhealthy as. it is I just like the fried chicken. it's great that's the first thing that. comes to mind what's my favorite Yaro. Meen. yeah you guys giving me some really yeah.
like a lot of choices and also Goose but. I don't know how to say goose in Chinese. oh. foreign. it's beautiful the food's delicious why. do you like more in Taiwan than from the. states the weather I'm from the Midwest. so we have all the seasons which is nice. but I prefer to stay away from the cold. weather the food is much more healthier. convenient cheaper in Taiwan definitely.
just the safety I think I'm from where. I'm from there's guns and other things. like that in Taiwan I don't have to. worry at all this is. foreign. I feel like I'm just on holiday for 15. years yeah I don't really think people. from Taipei would feel the same way oh. okay well that's the difference between.
Taipei and taijungi it's a little bit. more it's a little chill here welcoming. do you think in Taipei they're more. everyone's fresh I'm not aggressive but. I feel like everyone's busy you're. always working overtime everyone's. rushing when you're then you make more. money in Taipei in taijung I just I just. work like semi semi-full time and just. take it easy don't need to don't need to. give yourself too much pressure what is. our favorite City here in Taiwan yeah.
foreign. I think it's like the fact that I can. ride. like scooters and motorcycles all year. round can't really do that in Canada. surprising that's actually something. that people don't like about Taiwan. because they think it's really dangerous. it's full with scooters driving around. you agree do you think you're a safe. driver where are you blending I blend in. no I don't think that's how I want to. say worst place yeah it's convenient.
it's cheaper than Canada. I know we lived in Taiwan. for 11 years before we left and then we. lived in Singapore for 16 years but when. we always knew when we retired we come. back to Taiwan because we love Taiwan. what do you like about Taiwan the food. the weather the people and the and the. things to do and see here I love it I. love the weather I love the people. Taiwanese people really nice very chill.
it's very safe here it's nice and cheap. yeah it's just a nice change a lot of. times he's trying to speak I was like. huh that's why I never speak it because. it's really frustrating you know it's. like. [Music]. a lot of time I'm not trying to be mean. or anything it's just I really don't. understand but I think I should learn to. yeah understand what you're talking. about no I know I just find it. frustrating what it's like they. understand what you said but they still. have to fix your tone and you're like. you understood it right like yeah let's. continue the conversation or not yes oh.
my God. that's what he thinks of my Chinese. it's that bad. welcome to come to town yeah. uh so Taiwanese people I think are. really really they're very friendly.
it's very very welcoming yeah. we'll get them back I'll start shoveling. snow on top of the time with these. people I see in Canada. now I have a. intro to play yeah that was great. they're not done.
yeah exactly I don't know other assuming. the leaves are like us. that was great you're actually lucky. that happened that's such good. content and I didn't see this coming but. yeah that's good I always like things. like this happen when I'm filming yeah. again.
you can speak Taiwanese. okay. now we have a beautiful background just. for us working people yeah customized. [Music]. [Applause].
